THE LYING SPIRIT

One of the most pervasive evil spirits operating in the earth today is the lying spirit.  This spirit belongs to a family of spirits known as deceiving spirits.  As the name implies, their main function in the Dark Kingdom is to deceive men and women of all cultures, societies and religions, even Christians.  They are often found working together with religious spirits because religion is a key area of Satan’s attempts to deceive mankind.  The Prince of Darkness knows that God created man with an innate need for fellowship with God.  Even though this fellowship and relationship with God was lost through Adam’s sin, that need still exists today in every human being birthed into the world.

The devil is very clever—the longer I live and the more I deal with evil spirits the more I realize just how smart he is—much smarter than any human being ( of course we are not including Jesus)  who has ever lived.  He knows that if he doesn’t fill this innate missing piece of relationship birthed in man with something false—something he can use to take people to hell—then that person is more apt to discover the truth that God has provided a way for man to be redeemed and restored to the Family of God through the Blood of Jesus Christ.

I share in Revelations from God, A Prophet’s Journal (RFG) and Mysterious Secrets of the Dark Kingdom(MSDK) a conversation I had with the Lord in 1985 about these spirits.  Our ministry was on the radio in San Marcos, Texas, back then and you had to physically record the program live.  As I was praying one morning in April, 1985, I saw a vision of America like a graph and it was headed down at a 45 degree angle.  I began to weep and asked the Lord why this was occurring (even though we know from the Scriptures and history that this is normal; nations rise and fall).  He replied immediately with a revelation.  He said, “A nation is like a person.  The more they open themselves up to the devil the more he comes in and occupies.  The two greatest spirits in operation on the earth today are religious spirits and deceiving spirits.”

Exactly how does a person or nation “open themselves up to the devil” you might ask?  Well, they do it through sin and rebellion against God.  And the devil is willing and able to help them because he knows the longer he can deceive mankind and hold back the return of the Lord Jesus to set up the Millennial Kingdom, the longer he can stay out of being judged and eventually cast into the Lake of Fire.

So because the Lord said that the “two greatest spirits in operation today on the earth are religious spirits and deceiving spirits” then we should do as much as we can to recognize their activities and plans.  These spirits are terrestrial only, meaning that they are confined to earth and do not travel into the heavens.  In addition, all terrestrial spirits are confined to specific geological areas on the earth—grids as the Holy Spirit showed me in Dallas in a vision back in 1998 (see, RFG, p. 126). However, you should understand that many of these specific spirits—like the lying spirit—are found throughout the world in each “grid” or geographical area.

The phrase “birds of a feather flock together” is applicable to these spirits because they are a social family and like to hang out together.  This is why a discerning minister may ask himself the question: “Why are there so many children born with autism here?” (Portland, Oregon)  “Why are there so many homosexuals here? (San Francisco) or “Why is it that nobody here seems to be able to tell the truth?” (Washington, D.C.)

The lying spirit has dominated our nation’s capitol for centuries.  Tatanka-Iyotanka, a.k.a. Sitting Bull, the Lakota Sioux chief, understood this back in the 19^th century, although it’s not clear if he knew that it was an actual spirit. Sitting Bull had escaped the pursuit of the U.S.Cavalry into Saskatchewan, Canada, where other tribes such as the Nez Perce attempted to rendezvous with him. All of this occurred as a result of the U.S. Government’s continued refusal to honor their treaty with the Sioux that had given them the Black Hills after gold was later discovered there.  This is one of the saddest periods of American History because our government broke treaty after treaty with the Native Americans.

After the Battle of Little Big Horn, Sitting Bull escaped into Canada as the U.S. sought to avenge the attack (defense) at Little Big Horn.  General Terry was unable to capture Sitting Bull but approached him in Canada offering him a full pardon if he would return to the United States.  The actual facts were that the U.S. government was fearful of Sitting Bull’s political influence.  Sitting Bull told Terry: “Go back to Washington and take your lies with you.”  Sadly, he later returned to the U.S. a few years later and was assassinated by Indian police so that the U.S. government would not be blamed.  But make no mistake.  The blood of Sitting Bull is on the hands of our country as well as many other people.

The famous investor, Jim Rogers, is always interesting to listen to.  Whenever he’s interviewed reporters will always bring out some statistics such as unemployment, debt, or inflation.  Rogers always responds the same way: “You get your numbers from the government?  You believe the government?”  Although like Sitting Bull, Jim Rogers is not a Christian he still understands that officials in the U.S. Government have a problem ever telling the truth but they don’t know the reason—Washington is overrun with the lying spirit.

Unfortunately, as we’ve seen our great nation begin to decline, it’s become clear that few seem to care that we get nothing but lies from our Presidents, Congressman, and other public officials no matter whether they are Republican or Democrat.  Where is the outrage?  Where is the accountability?  It seems to have become the accepted norm that politicians will lie. 

There’s the old joke about the Pentecostal deacon who was about to die and both Gabriel and Satan appeared to him.  Satan asked him if he wanted to go to Heaven or Hell and he replied, “Heaven of course.” Satan responded, “Not so fast; you’ve never been to hell.”  The deacon agreed to go with Satan for a tour and he was amazed!  Hell contained all the things that he loved and had heard were in Heaven!  Luxurious mansions, gold streets, beautiful women, sumptuous dining, beautiful golf courses, etc.

So at his death he chose to go to hell instead of Heaven.  When he got there it was not what he had seen but was barren, hot, smelly, grotesque and he was in torment burning.  He demanded to see Satan who appeared to him.  He asked, “What is this place?  This is not the hell that you showed me would be mine!”  Satan replied: “That was the hell you saw yesterday when I was campaigning.  But now the campaign is over and this is the real hell.”

Unfortunately, most of our large corporations have followed in the footsteps of Washington in being dominated by lying spirits.  They are not the bastions of integrity and honesty that they once were because of the spirit of greed.  Yet there is little deterrent to this madness.  The risks are outweighed by the rewards.  Those prosecuted always only receive a few years of prison time but it’s not real prison but more like a resort for those with money.

The lying spirit always remains in the heart of a person but I can always see it in the eyes as well like many other spirits.  That’s because our eyes are the doorway into our souls and spirits.  Jesus spoke about this when describing our eyes as being “single” as regards righteousness causing “the whole body to be full of light” (Mt. 6:22) and “if thy eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness.” (6:23)

In the First Edition of MSDK I showed a picture of John Upkpebor, a former member of Satan’s kingdom who was a professor in the Mystic Schools in the heavenlies for the Dark Kingdom.  One of the things he shared with me back in 1989 regarding evil spirits and their occupation was a key scripture: Ephesians 4:27—“Give no place to the devil.”  That is why we teach people that they must put sin out of their lives because sin is an open door through which the devil will continue to attack a person.  Lying is a sin.  You should not practice it!  The Scriptures state that “liars” will go to hell (Rev. 21:8).  You might say, “But brother Timmons, I’m a Christian.”  Then you shouldn’t be lying, should you? Jesus stated that liars “were of their father the devil.”

It’s unfortunate that so many denominations teach unconditional security—that once you accept Christ as Savior then nothing you can do will cause you to fall from grace but the Scriptures teach otherwise and Jesus said if you’re a liar then your Father is not the same as His Father.  In other words, you’re not in the family of God.

Now it doesn’t matter how you contracted the lying spirit, even if it’s innocently.  My wife, Evelyn, has given her powerful testimony many times where she was delivered as a teenager from a lying spirit even though she was a Christian at the time.  She was raised in an abusive home where an older brother, one obviously possessed, terrorized the younger children by locking them in a closet and setting it on fire, threatening to kill them, beating them, etc. She began to sleep with a knife under her pillow as a young child for fear and the Bible clearly tells us that the spirit of fear brings torment.

So she avoided going home after school.  If she could delay going home she would minimize the time alone with the demonized older sibling.  To stay at school longer she would have to lie to both teachers and her mom.  Even though she was lying innocently to protect herself, this gave the lying spirit entrance into her and soon she had difficulty telling the truth at all until it was cast out at age 15.

Brothers and sisters, we are children of the King.  As such we are to live and be a demonstration of Jesus Christ upon the earth.  That means that we are brokers of the truth and not liars.  If you have a problem in this area of telling the truth then you need to stop lying—under any circumstances—and ask the Holy Spirit to help you be a true disciple of the Lord in spirit and in truth.  If you find this extremely difficult to do then you need deliverance ministry to cast out a lying spirit.

I pray that this teaching will help all of you as ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ to minister deliverance to those who come to you with a lying spirit.  Praise the Lord!
