THE WAY OF THE CROSS
By Apostle J.P. Timmons
The LORD awakened me this morning with the Cross in my spirit. Every Christian knows that Easter is always the Sunday that we celebrate The Resurrection of Jesus. It's also, unfortunately, today the only Sunday that the Cross is normally mentioned anymore in church services. Like sin, the Cross seems to be a subject that we'd rather not speak about.
The LORD Jesus doesn't want us to forget the Cross -- the way of suffering that paid the price for our redemption. The charismatic move of God that ended in 1988 (although most charismatic Christians and churches don't know it's ended) could have urshered in the return of Jesus Christ but it tried to dodge the Cross. The Cross doesn't fit in with what's popular today -- money, success and prospertiy -- having our needs met -- that's the "Bible" we want to hear preached today.
In 2005 the LORD had given me a revelation message to preach at our church in Libby, Montana, titled The Spirit of Elijah. It was in two parts and I preached the first part on Palm Sunday and expected to complete it on Easter; however, the LORD gave me a revelation on the Resurrection Easter Sunday that He wanted me to preach instead and it was quite a revelation about how Jesus didn't have it so easy as most of us think; He had to believe the Bible by faith just like we do and trust the Father to resurrect Him. Yet the "believers" in His day, including Mary and the Apostles didn't believe the Resurrection despite seeing Him perform several signs at Bethany (Lazarus) and Nain proving that He was "the resurrection and the life." Why did they take spices to anoint His body when He told them He would be resurrected? When He returned from the Father He rebuked them for their lack of faith and hardness of heart. These same things are what keeps the true Church today from winning the world for Christ.
The Lord has been speaking to me much this past week about the Cross, suffering and the ruin that the Church is in. On Palm Sunday He gave me a vision. I had gone to bed with such a burden in my spirit because we'd watched part of the Morris Cerullo "Begathon" to see if it had changed; the last time I saw it was in 1997. A certain mini star was on there blaspheming the LORD by blatantly lying to the people in order to get them to send money. He was using a gimmick he called "The Passover Offering" saying that God told him this and there were 23 promises, angels, etc. Many of the things he was saying were not only downright lies but blasphemy. I phoned the "hotline" and spoke with a man (counselor) in Dallas and told him that the "preacher" was lying. The counselor was very gracious and told me that he didn't agree with everything that this man was saying but that he liked to help people and Dr. Cerullo. I replied, "Well, Dr. Cerullo must know that these are lies; why is he having the guy on there?" Of course, most Christians don't know that many of these people are professional fund raisers and they get a percentage of the money raised. However, this particular individual is supposed to be a minister and has a church of 10,000 people!
So I went to bed quite burdened in my spirit for the condition of the Church and so many hirelings in ministry today; where are the true Five-fold?
In the vision I was standing out in an open wheat field like you might see in Nebraska. The LORD was about to make an announcement on a giant Big Screen T.V. I looked down and saw these hands sticking up through the ground trying to pull some pieces of plywood, rocks and rubble off of them so that they could come up into the world -- this person was completely buried under what looked like the wreckage of war and desolation.
INTERPRETATION: I knew what it meant in my spirit. People don't really care what God is saying! They are focused on their own lives and how to get out from under their problems.
The LORD then gave me a poem that I hope you will meditate on and make a decision to do something about it today by committing to help the LORD.
I WALKED AMONG THE RUBBLE
I walked among the rubble last night -- it was as far as I could see. I walked among the rubble with the LORD last night and He said, "Can you see what I can see?"
I walked among the rubble last night with the LORD and He said, "Will you come build with Me?"
I walked among the rubble last night with the LORD at my side -- I walked among the rubble and He said, "Those who build can have no pride."
I walked among the rubble last night it was all burnt and charred by fire. I walked among the rubble last night and I felt the LORD's desire. "I am the chief cornerstone," He said, " but they don't want to build on Me. They'd rather focus on themselves than my reality."
I walked among the rubble last night and the dark came cold and gray. I walked among the rubble last night and I heard the LORD say, "Won't you stay?"
"For I need those who have clear vision to help with the clay. I've given gifts and talents to each one come what may. And they must all give an account to Me upon the Judgment Day.
"So come and linger with Me upon this building site. For I have things you can do If you build with all your might.
"For night is fast approaching and we cannot work you see. The Prince of Darkness rules the night but I rule history.
"Do not look at this rubble and the chaos that you see. Remember we have to Build by the Spirit and by Me.
"So follow my instructions closely and walk the path with Me. For I will make you a Master builder if you'll focus on eternity."
May the LORD bless you and your family as you celebrate the Resurrection today; I hope you will make a decision to rekindle your zeal and help the Lord build The Kingdom. Remember, the LORD never promised us it would be easy. But if we will do what He said in the poem and "focus on eternity" we will have great rewards and help the LORD with His need to populate Heaven and help suffering, crying, dying humanity. The wheat is ready for harvest but where are the workers?
